I am a medicine singer, initiated Ajq'ij, and voice medicine guide. My path has been a long and winding road of initiations, mystery, transformation, and a deep study of both music and the spiritual traditions of Central and South America. It feels almost impossible to condense the essence of who I am into a single page on the internet yet what I can share is that every step of my life has been guided by sound, song, and Spirit.

Hi, I'm Ayana

I was raised in various places including Guatemala, Arizona, and Mexico where as a child I felt immersed in the living presence of the sacred; an unseen world that spoke through the forests, the land, and silence itself. Singing became my first language with that mystery, a way of touching something beyond words. For me, music and spirituality have never been separate.

Although I have been singing since the age of four, my relationship with sound deepened profoundly in 2017 after graduating with an Associates in Vocal Performance. Through initiations with the Shipibo and Q’ero traditions in Peru, the path of sound as medicine awakened a deeper calling within me than I’d ever felt before.

Alkame, is the bridge between my work as an Ajq’ij and as a singer where I offer a way to reconnect to your soul through spiritual work informed by the ancient Mayan ways or through guiding you in using your voice as a pathway to healing, empowerment, and self-discovery.

My work is rooted not only in tradition and study, but in lived experience. I have come to understand that it is through trust, presence, and the courage to listen inwardly that we return to the path of the heart.

Whether through music, ceremony, sound journeys, or workshops, my intention remains the same: to support others in reconnecting with themselves, reclaiming their inner strength, and opening to the beauty, wisdom, and mystery of life.

In time, my own Mayan lineage began to call me home. After years of study and devotion to the Mayan Cosmovision, I was initiated as an Ajq’ij, a ceremonial daykeeper and spiritual guide by my Kaqchikel elder - an ancestral authority within the Mayan communities of Guatemala. This path guides my life and my work.

Today, I walk as both an Ajq’ij and an artist.

Through my music, I create soundscapes and songs that seek to harmonize, heal, and restore balance within the individual and the collective. And through my work with the fire, I make prayers, and work with the wisdom of the ancients to bring support, healing, and harmony to others' lives.
